Emily A. Snyder, M.A.
Managing Director and Educational Consultant

Emily SnyderWorking as an Independent Educational Consultant (IEC) since 2002, Emily has the breadth and depth of knowledge and skills needed to successfully meet the college planning needs of the students she serves.

As the founder and Managing Director of Know Your Options, LLC , Emily uses her extensive experience in education, child development, and business management to oversee daily operations and manage the growth of her thriving educational consulting services company.

Providing Individualized College Guidance Services

Emily’s value as a highly respected independent educational consultant speaks for itself through the success of the hundreds of students she has worked with.  Many stay in touch, keeping her updated on their accomplishments while on campus and in their professional careers after graduation. See our Acceptances link for a complete list of the colleges and universities that the students she has worked with over the years have attended.  Former students returning to her for advice on graduate and professional school admissions is what prompted her to expand Know Your Options to include these areas of service.  The true testament to her success as a college consultant has been ‘word of mouth’ referrals and the opportunity to guide many of the siblings in each family she works with as they navigate unique and different educational paths.

To stay current on educational issues, trends, and policies that affect the college admissions process, Emily spends significant time visiting college campuses, meeting with admissions representatives, networking with professional colleagues and attending professional development activities focused on college admissions, enrollment management, paying for college, and student related issues and concerns.

She presents on topics related to high school students and the college admissions process, has published articles and blogged on issues related to children and education, and has been called on and interviewed by local and national media to comment on current trends in education.

A strong believer in giving back, Emily holds memberships and leadership positions in professional associations that promote ethical educational consulting practices.

A Professional Member  of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), www.iecaonline.com, since 2003, Emily’s leadership roles within IECA are numerous — she is currently a member of IECA’s Finance Committee. During her 3 year tenure on their Board of Directors, she served on the Executive Committee as Vice President of Committees. She is a former Chair of IECA’s Membership Committee and is a past Chair, Vice Chair and member of the College Committee.
